Have You Been Accidentally Hurting Your Diet?

Everybody knows that the most beneficial foods we can take in are whole grains, lean meats along with healthy fats. These foods fill us with protein along with energy. They keep people nutritionally balanced with minimal calories while we work hard to lose our fat at the gym. Did you realize, though, that a number of the foods you are eating that are supposed to be perfectly acceptable by dietary standards, could be keeping you from losing weight at a good pace? They could even be trying to keep you from losing weight altogether! Here are some of the foods that might be undermining your diet attempts.

Sports Drinks usually do not actually help you. You have most likely been told that the sports drink is the fastest way to replenish your body’s electrolyte levels after a workout. Most physicians recognize, however, that if your exercise routine is shorter than ninety minutes, drinking water should be fine. Sports drinks are packed with sugar and calories and a lot of other things you don’t need including artificial flavors and colors which defeat any attempts at eating only natural products. Try having some chocolate milk instead. The sugar in chocolate will help your muscles start to mend themselves and the calcium in the milk will strengthen your bones.

Skip that protein shakes. Lots of individuals believe that drinking a protein shake is a good way to curb cravings between meals. The truth of the matter is that when you are already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake really does is clog your system with protein. Converse to common belief, protein isn’t stored as muscle tissue fiber, it’s stored as fat. This means that if you have already taken in too much protein that day, your system will merely store what it doesn’t need in your fat cells and that doesn’t help you lose weight or inches of your waist line at all.

Pre-packaged deli meat is not as useful to you as you may well think. You may imagine that a sandwich crafted from whole wheat bread and pre-packaged lean deli meat makes for a good lunch. The real truth is that pre-packaged deli meat has a large amount of preservatives and can provide you with about a third of your advised sodium consumption for the day. This is going to be specifically unsafe if you are at risk of contracting heart disease. Instead of buying the pre-packaged stuff, you should instead use home cooked poultry or freshly sliced meat from your grocery store’s deli counter. Yes you are going to spend more money for these selections but you will be healthier if you choose them.

There are plenty of things that we believe are better than others like choosing a whole wheat bagel each morning when the truth is that a bowl of cinnamon sprinkled oatmeal is a much healthier choice. Ask your doctor which elements are the best to eat and then follow the directions you are given. If you are very careful about what you eat and therefore are good to your system, losing weight probably won’t be all that big an issue.
