We all know that one of the best foods for our diets are lean meats, whole grains and healthy fats. These would be the ingredients that should give us the energy and protein we need. They keep the body nutritionally healthy with minimal calories while we work hard to lose our fat at the gym. Did you know, though, that a number of the foods you are eating that are supposed to be perfectly fine by dietary standards, could be keeping you from losing weight at a good pace? They can also be making you gain additional weight! Check out a few of the ingredients that might be assisting you to accidentally sabotage your diet.

Sports Drinks do not really help you. You’ve most likely been told that if you want to help your body replenish itself after a work out, you should drink a sports drink. Many health professionals agree, however, that if your workout is under ninety minutes, water is a fine way to do this. Sports drinks could completely undermine your diet program because they are filled to the brim with sugar, empty calories and artificial colors and flavors. Choose chocolate milk for your drink instead. The suscrose within the chocolate will help your muscles start to mend and the calcium in milk keeps your bones strong.

You do not need protein shakes. So many people think that having a protein shake is a good way to end cravings when it isn’t meal time. When you are eating an usually healthy diet, however, a protein shake simply sends you into protein overdose. Contrary to popular opinion, protein isn’t going to get saved as muscle, it gets stored as fat. If you’ve already eaten your daily allotment of protein that day, your whole body will just store the extra in your fat cells for later and that won’t allow you to drop pounds or inches.

Pre-packaged deli meat is just not nearly as healthy for you as you might think it is. It’s generally believed that a sandwich constructed of whole grain bread as well as lean pre-packaged deli meat is a pretty good lunch time item. The truth is that pre-packaged deli meat is crammed full of preservatives and also about a third of your suggested daily sodium intake. This could be specifically bothersome if you are prone to heart disease. Instead of buying the pre-packaged stuff, you should instead use home cooked poultry or freshly sliced meat from your grocery store’s deli counter. Yes you’ll spend more money for these choices but you will be healthier if you choose them.

There are a wide range of things that we assume will help us shed weight like eating a whole wheat bagel each morning but the truth is that eating a bowl of oatmeal sprinkled with cinnamon is a lot better for our health and waist lines. Ask your medical professional what the best methods for you to eat healthfully are and then follow those directions. If you are cautious about what you eat and are good to your entire body, losing weight probably won’t be all that big an issue.
