Who Came Up With the Idea for Toning Shoes?

December 22, 2011 | Author: | Posted in Shoes

Toning athletic shoes are considered the most recent trend sweeping the world, and by now one likely have found women and men sporting them around from day to day. Some basic questions may come to mind regarding toning shoes when you notice people dressed in them. Do they perform well? Who invented the very idea of a good sneaker that can help you become fit and healthy? Where did they come from?

I’d really like to handle the final query in this article and it actually starts with back pain. A number of events led Swiss engineer Karl Muller to contemplate just what exactly separated people who have back pain from individuals that live happily without it. He went on vacation one year in South Korea and realized that not very many of the local people experienced back issues. Exactly what did they have in common? Well, they were practically all farmers and they spent a lot of their life out in the field – barefoot.

That brought Muller two possible hints concerning causes of back problems. To start with, being out there farming in the field, these people were not likely walking on as many hard surfaces as our own society does. From the paved road and concrete paths to the tile in our houses and office buildings, we spend considerable time standing and walking on solid types of surface. Second of all, these people were without shoes. Boots or shoes work effectively as defense against the environments we each walk on and also assist in preventing the spread of some specific medical conditions, but could it be feasible that these were not really all that perfect for spinal alignment?

Muller took this idea back with him and launched the entire process of creating a footwear that mimicked as carefully as you possibly can the experience created by walking without footwear upon an irregular or sandy surface. This product was then rebranded with a photo of a youthful African (presumably from the Masai tribe) male and offered for sale as MBT (or Masai Barefoot Technology).

Since the original MBT were released, many other forms have been produced by different manufacturers.
Some of the best types of toning shoes for women include brands such as: Rock&Tone, TrainTone, EasyTone, Skechers Resistance Runners, and of course MBT (just to name a few…).
